Ménage à trois er musikalsk i familie med percussion-soloen Rite of Passage - som igen bygger på materiale fra ouverturen til mit monodrama Dronning Boudicca.
Ifølge Den Store Danske Encyklopædi er en ménage à trois et 'trekantægteskab, dvs. at manden accepterer hustruens forhold til en anden.' Et sådant forhold rummer jo en stærk dynamik - men er utvivlsomt også en bestandig kilde til forviklinger og konflikter...

This work was commissioned by ALPHA trio, a Danish ensemble with the unusual combination of recorders, saxophone and percussion. The piece is related to the percussion solo Rite of Passage, which again is based on the ouverture to my monodrama Boudicca.
According to the dictionary, a ménage à trois is an open marriage where the husband accepts his wife's erotic relationship to another man. Such a relation may create a strong dynamic, but can whitout doubt also give space to constant entanglements and conflicts.
