My flute concerto was commissioned by Danish National Chamber Orchestra (DR UnderholdningsOrkesteret) and dedicated to their Hungarian solo flutist Dóra Seres. She is a wonderful musician – at first sight a fragile beauty with a very poetic ambience, but behind that an artist with a very strong will. In this piece I wanted to challenge her ability to bring out unknown forces from her light and elegant instrument. So I have really set her beauty up against the brutal energy of the orchestral beast.
The concerto is not exactly a piece of programme music. Rather a picture of different conflicts and meeting points between strong opposites. Will there be a happy end...?
